Parkinson's Open Road Race at EL Dorado Park

* special update* registration including credit cards is now available thru www.active.com    SAVE THE DATE OCT 1, 2006 !!!!!  Start time for this race is 7 am YOU MUST BE AT THE PARK BY 6 AM (PARKING COST IS $6.00 PLEASE BRING EXACT CHANGE FOR THAT EARLY IN THE AM! the entrance to the race will be closed at 6:30am we must have the road closed so the race can begin on time.WE ONLY HAVE THE ROAD CLOSURE FOR 2 HOURS! There are 5 year age group categories for men and women. The age groups start at the from the youngest to the oldest 5-9,10-14,15-19,20-24,25-29,30-34,35-39,40-45,46-49,50-54,60-65,66-70, 71 plus

  • 6 laps = almost a half marathon
  • Awards and prizes for those whom place in their categories
  • 50% of race proceeds will go to The Parkinson's Disease Foundation 
  •  (After operating expenses have been met)
  • HELMETS MANDATORY! NO HELMET=NO RACE

  • DIRECTIONS  TO THE RACE>> from 405 (San Diego Freeway) or 605 (San Gabriel Freeway) 7550 E. Spring ST. Long Beach, CA 90815 ( www.mapquest.com for directions)
  • Traveling North on the 405 fwy, Exit Palos Verde Ave, Right on E. Willow Left on Studebaker, Right on E. Spring St. (follow signs in park that say "skaters"
  • Traveling North on 605 fwy Exit Katella Ave Turn Left on Los Alamitos, Left on Spring St. Enter Park on the right The PARK ENTRANCE IS ON 7550 E SPRING ST. (Use map quest for detailed directions) Once in park,  follow signs that say "skaters" following winding road around the lake area (stay to the right) Just before the underpass will be a barricade blocking the road, go past that barricade (before 6:40 am) and left at the stop sign to the parking lot.

Race entry pre reg. price got it, pre register, this race is only $30.00,  if you pre register!~! Race entry price will change and go up on these dates

Feb 1 to June 30 $30.00 July 1 to Aug 31 $35.00 Sept. 1 to Oct 1 $40.00

Day of race entry is $40.00 and is strongly discouraged, as there is very little time before the race starts for all of us to take care of the pre reg and register the late entries.

  • Pre register is $30. wait till race day to register is $40.00, it is just that simple!  Plus we have to start the race at 7 am exactly, if your late you will not get in the race at all!

 The skater who raises the most money for The Parkinson Foundation WILL GET A COMPLEMENTRY race entry for the North Shore Marathon 2007!*

* The skater who raises the most money (aside from their race entry) (minimum of $200.00) will receive one race entry for the North Shore Marathon 2007.(Due to the race date change the entry will be now for the 2007 race, the NS Marathon is Sept. 17,2006. Ask fellow skaters, friends, co-workers, family members, Aunts, Uncles, cousins, for a donation of any amount they wish to donate. You must bring all donations to the event in an envelope with the total written on the outside of the envelope. Make donation checks payable to the Parkinson Disease Foundation of NYC. Receipts are available for cash donations, 50% of these proceeds in the envelope go to the PRF of NYC

There will primarily 4 and 5 wheel speed skaters (inline Skaters at this event) however this event is open to all skaters of all levels and abilities,  slower skaters will be required to stay on the right side of the road, the faster skaters will be passing you on the left. The race is for 6 laps but if all you are capable of skating is 4 or 5 laps them just skate that! This is a charity fund raiser,  the idea is to raise funds for the Parkinson's Disease Foundation, the more raised the more of chance there is to find a cure for this disease.
